- “Judgment Night for Doomsday” June 25, 2008 – This was my first paid, published article. It started out as a class assignment, and it’s presently a finalist for the New England Press Association’s Best Sports Feature Award. Even better, Doomsday signed a contract with the UFC back in December.
- “Fight Club: Why Bostonians Can’t Get Their Smackdown Fix” July 23, 2008 – This one was based on some very real frustration, which was compounded by Rampage losing. I think more bars around Boston are showing fights now.
- “Funny Fundraiser: Hip Cash For Kansas Rep” August 13, 2008 – I found this one on Reddit.com. I think Tevis wound up losing the election, unfortunately. Guess I can’t win them all.
- “Tackling the Issues: Brutally Funny” October 29, 2008 – This might have been another Reddit-discovered story. Terry Tate later wound up making an appearance in ESPN.com’s “Mayne Street” web series.
- “More Than 200 Gather For Transgender Day Of Remembrance” November 25, 2008 – My first article in the TAB. It’s kind of fun to cover local events, but if this hadn’t been such a solemn one I could have had a lot more fun with it.
- “Victims Of Terrorist Attack On Mumbai Chabad House Remembered At Jewish Russian Center In Brighton” December 4, 2008 – Another memorial service. This was when I started to get worried that I’d only get called for memorials and deaths.
- “Preserving History, Making Memories At Shaloh House” December 17, 2008
- “YMCA Ready for Post-Hoiday Membership Surge” January 9, 2009 – This is my first article of the new year, focusing on ways the YMCA can help you get back in shape.
- “Obama Supporters celebrate Inauguration Day at The Kells in Allston” January 21, 2009
- “Boston College Plans head to Boston Redevelopment Authority despite neighbors’ protests” January 22, 2009
- “Neighbors organize against Chestnut Hill condo plan” January 26, 2009
